It is simple to remember those fallen when the blood soaks the ground you stand on. It is simple to forget the sounds of the fallen when the earth continues to rotate through the universe and time pushes the thought of death far from memory. For some reason I saved these recordings of that day, September 11, 2001, for which I feel humbled by every time I hear them. These recordings are different. You will hear things that other recordings did not get, including the official FDNY recordings in archive. I’m not sure why, however I have not been able to find them since. I play them, I keep them, it is my tribute that those fine men and women of New York will not lose their voice.
